I was digging through some old packed away stuff the other day and came across my Boss distortion pedal from the early 80's. Black label indicating made in Japan, silver thumb screw, and stamped in black serial number 0000 under the pedal, top right hand corner. My question is I don't remember exactly what year I bought the pedal and would like to know when it was manufactured.
Yes, it has a long dash so that the D is under the T. But I'm a little confused about a picture I've seen about a DS-1 pedal for sale with 0100 serial number made in Dec. 1980, the switch under my pedal is black with no spring, not a clear pin with white base and a spring. I've seen older ones with the clear pin, and "newer" one with clear pins as well.
The clear switch was replaced with he black one some time 1979. From time to time there are odd ones that come up like later pedals with clear switch or silver screw. In most cases these are unoriginal modifications but there may also be some odd ones that left the factory like this. It is however expected for a 0000 to have a black switch.
