I had my DM-2 on my board for the longest time. Then I switched it to my DM-3 when I was lucky enough to find a cheap one.
BUT
I've picked up a V2B DD-3 broken for cheap and fixed it. It went on my board for soak test about 6 weeks ago, and now my DM2 and DM-3 are packed away and the DD-3 is the one. I can't tell you why... my best guess is that it is a good compromise between full analogue and clinical digital.
Anyone else had a similar experience?
(see http://www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/articles/DD3.htm for the descriotion of the V2B DD-3) |

I have a version 1 DD-3 and love it with a analog switch
Took me a bit to realize what V2B was |

Ok, help me out here. What is a V2B? I have a DSD-2 that sounds really much between a normal digital delay and my DM-2 or DM-3. The DM-3 is a little more clearer than DM-2, but I like the DM-2 the better, but I still want the DSD-2 in my board again but have not the place for it though. Is the DSD-2 like the mentoined DM-3 in this thread?

V2B is version 2B
The analog switch just toggles in a .1 or .047 across the outer lugs of the Effect pot. This makes each repeat darker as it trail off. You can also swap out 3 other comps, let me know I'll dig them up. |

Yep.. i had a couple on my 'board..the older one (nearly 14 years old) defo sounds more analogue to my ears, the newer one (about 3 years old) is a bit more clinical but is very good for multi tap type stuff...i turning into a bit of a delay/echo freak.. i now have reintroduced the Pod XT PRO with everything turned off except for delay and reverb... so of the delays and echoes sims are very good especially the stereo delay.....i might try the Satch trick of setting his DD-3's to 400 and 800ms and the pod to 1200ms and cascade them into each other for ambience,i already do this with the DD-3's but on a higher time setting..... |

I realize that this isn't the Tech forum, but:

Two observations:
-- there's no difference between putting capacitors across the outer lugs of both the feedback and effect level controls and putting a larger one across just one of them
-- if the desired results are high-frequency rolloff of the wet signal as it's fed back, why wouldn't one put the low-pass filter further back in the feedback loop... say, between the center lug and ground on the feedback control, or out past point #11 on the control board?
Has anyone experimented with this?

You can place it on either pot, but I mentioned the Effect level pot since its lone pot, compare to the others that are on one pcb. Much easier to get at Only on one pot, not both. The two pots are parallel. This was covered before on this forum.
But for more tape echo sounds than the simple one cap mod... From Bajaman on freestompboxes 1: replace R14 (33k) with a 10k resistor. 2: replace R33 (47k) with a 22k resistor. 3: replace C26 (1uf 50v) with a 10n film capacitor. 4: add a 100n film capacitor in parallel with the effect level potentiometer (between pin 1 and pin 3 of the pot) http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1055
I used a dpdt toggle with two caps and stuffed it in the battery chamber, didn't want to do the drill job on it.

| +1 on the DSD-2. It sits in a nice spot between the analog and digital delays. |

Thanks much for the info and updated link on this... will try these mods out when I get a chance.
