Hi the-destructor
Why did you recently get one? That''s going to be a big project if you did.

Hi Dr. Bob, No, not YET. I'd really like to though. One of my biggest questions being, "Is it possible or plausible to take a single speed motor & place a variable potentiometer in-line to achieve speed control." If so I'd probably house it in a defunct wah or vol pedal enclosure. Seems likely to work, but don't have any testimonial to back that up. |

G'day the-destructor!
It will probably take more than a potentiometer... Motor control is a high-current applicatioin and usually requires specific control circuitry to handle the current, inductive load, and back-emf generated.
Alternatively, using a "variac" would probably work as a cheap and cheerful solution (depending on the motor... some don't like variacs).
I'd say it's certainly possible, but but it's gonna take some engineering

Bump.
How is this one working out ? One trick you can use, if you have a DC motor, use an adjustable voltage regulator on the positive leg. I used to do this to cassette recorders for " vari-speed. " Uprate componenets for more robust applications. |

Hey guys, Still haven't got a hold of one yet. Maybe a "potentially free" unit this weekend, although condition is not yet known. This WILL BE a quest of mine in the VERY NEAR FUTURE. I'll be a bit more financially able to make a few more things happen soon & will definitely exploit that. I will update this thread when it's pertinent. I thought this thread was a dead one. Glad to see a few of you guys see the potential vs. money there. C'mon, who wouldn't want the real deal. Toys rule!!!!
