With a bit of luck there's a change i am going to be the owner of an early DF-2 marked Super Distortion & feedbacker.

Just want to know if this particular one is rare or not so rare?

both version of the DF-2 are rare.

the super distortion feedbacker is more rare than the super feedbacker distortion.

Since I got mine I've been watching ebay... and they go for $150 plus - that makes them "desirable" (if not rare...).

The SD&F had a production span of just 3-4 months compared to the SF&D's 8 years. It's actually quite surpprising to see them pop up so often considering the short production span.

Is there any indication of the run size for the SD&F?

This is just speculation on my part, but I always suspected that for any given pedal Boss probably built up a big supply in the initial production run. That way they could be sure the dealers were fully stocked for the initial release when they were most likely to see the greatest demand. The SD&F would not be the only pedal with a short run but a relatively abundant supply.

I think Big Boss Man is right. With later pedals, using the 2+5 serial numbering system, it is common to see 1st month productions of around 5000 units. Production was probably lower 1984 but I still expect there to be 5-10k SD&F pedals out there.

I still rate my df-2 as one of my favourite pedals - just love the sound it has and i cant seem to replicate it with any other pedal. I got mine bout 4 years ago from a local guy via egay - didnt particularly try for the super distortion one but it was the first one that came up.

Interestingly i had a df-2 when it was 1st released and sold it to a mate a few years later when i momentaraly gave up the band and decided i didnt need all the crap lyng around - i now have over 70 boss pedals !!!!!

Well, i am happy! they arrived today, all in working order. They need some cleaning but that's okay.
The guy put in some patch cables and a PSA230G too.

Hi Mesjoggah

Nice collection & find.
How old is the DD-2?

The plug pack was a nice bonus.

Regards Dr. Bob
