Hi Heart and Soul & Guys
It's built into most of the recent Boss/Roland Multi-effects pedals. Not to mention into many other brands as well. Including in the Line6 DL4. It's also in my Korg Pandora PX4D.
The Beringer X-Vamp, & they also have a clone of the pedal as well. Christo bought one, so he might be able to tell you how well it works.
Regards Dr. Bob |

| I'd be interested to hear... my home-built clone has about a 300-400ms maximum swell time - what do the "store bought" ones have? |

Went and got the Behringer clone of it, to complete the rares of Boss SP1, SG1, and VB2. At $40, you can't go wrong. Played with it for a bit, but been busy latley. The swell can be cool, if you dial it in right, and not too slow Havn't tried it after a od/dist yet tho |

Guyatone makes the SV-2 (Slow Volume) for around $100.. MIJ of course.
The lack of this pedal is a black hole in my collection.

I have the Behringer clone (SM200). At under $40 new, got mine for $15 used, I figured what the hell. All descriptions I see posted so far are true to form. The reason "I" bought it was to be in front of my EH POG. All I need now is a decent Leslie sim & I'll dazzle the masses with my organ (whoops, already do that) organ-like sound is what I meant to say. |

Oddly, I've just discovered what an amazing NOISE GATE the SG-1 is! |

| I think the Boss book states something like, the SG-1 was made as a challenge to see if they could make another effect out of the components of the NF-1. I haven't looked closely at the schematics but I expect them to be pretty close. Phostenix was talking about modifying a NF-1 to a SG-1 but I don't know if he ever did it. |

Interestingly I found that too with the clone I made. Of course, the effect has to be on for it to work as a gate |

Right, in the Boss book, Mr. Kubo states:
"The NF-1 noisegate was completed before it, and we were told to make an effect using the same circuit. The operation is the opposite to that of the NF-1. Normally, the sound from a guitar decays away, but the idea of the SG-1 is to raise this fading sound."

Personally a volume pedal just before a delay box can't be beat for those violin sounds. Bung a chorus and/or flanger before the dleay and get some wonderful synth-like sounds.
