Only the CE2 has the 3007 chip, and later the 3207
the TR2 uses a M5218 chip, not sure, it don't think they're BBD chips

Hi onerevolution, welcome to the forum from The City if Brotherly Love! I havn't seen that one yet, at least not in my Ibanez pedals. If you post this in tech. Mod catagory, Laurie or Dr. Bob may be familliar with it.

thanks for the responses. i could only find reference to the chorus pedal with that chip. but i have seen some mention with the new malekko vibrato pedal (that uses that chip) and the older boss tr-2, but maybe it was just a typo, and they meant the chorus instead.

i will try to post to that other section as well.

I think this is a (almost) complete list of which BBD is used on the different analog pedals.
I suspect the BF-2B has the same BBD as the BF-2 but would have to take it apart to verify it.

BF-2 -- MN3207 ........... 1024 stage
BF-2B - MN3204 ............ 512 stage
CE-2 -- MN3007, MN3207 ... 1024 stage
CE-2B - MN3007 ........... 1024 stage
CE-3 -- MN3207 ........... 1024 stage
CE-5 -- MN3007 ........... 1024 stage
CH-1 -- MN3007 ........... 1024 stage
DM-2 -- MN3005, MN3205 ... 4096 stage
DM-3 -- MN3205 ........... 4096 stage
HF-2 -- MN3204 ............ 512 stage
VB-2 -- MN3207 ........... 1024 stage

Edit: added information from ChristoMephisto's post below.

The BF-2B has the same BBD chip as the HF2, the MN3204 a 512 stage driver. The 3007/3207 were 1024 stage drivers.
And just to cover all the bases, the MN3205 were 4096 stage Low Voltage Operation Low Noise BBD (4096)

Out of interest, do we actually have a record of the switchover on the CE-2 from 3007 to 3207? The only schematic I've seen shows the 3007. My MIT has a 3007. Changing the IC from one to the other requires rewiring the supply rails and altering the PCB, so I'd expect changes to the service notes.

The CE5 Chorus Ensemble has two service notes around on the net, for the CE-5 and CE-5A, whats not to say a second edition of the CE2 never went public?

Not saying it didn't, just that I've never seen it. I'd be interested to know when it happened.

I've never actually seen any CE-2s with 3207 BBDs but it has been reported on the forum more than once. If the change is more than a drop-in replacement, I find it hard to believe that Boss would go to the trouble of redesigning the pedal just before end of production.

Nathan, when was your MIT CE-2 made? The last CE-2 I've seen is CC98667 (Aug-91).

No serial I'm afraid... I've got some pics I can post of the board if that helps date it. I'll dig them up later.

Hi Guys

Are there any members that actually have a CE-2 with MN3207 BBD's?

I was so keen to investigate this fact that;
Yesterday I specifically looked at the few CE-2's that I have here.
All of my CE-2's have the MN3007's
Even the two MIT CE-2's.

I also looked at my repair records & history,
for any CE-2's that have been sent to my Lab.
And all of those had MN3007's as well.

Regards Dr. Bob

OK - here are some pics of my MIT CE-2. The serial is missing, but perhaps it can be dated by other means.

It is very early MIT... it has the 4558 "DD" chip.
