Hi everyone,

Im a compleat noob when it comes to Boss pedals. I recently bought three though because I was sick of my zoom pedals tendency to cut the tone of my guitars and Vox amp.

AAnyway, I pluged them all in and was playing away when my phaser started to cut out. assuming this was the battery I replaced it using one of the batteries from another pedal. it was at this point that I noticed that the LED was very pail compared to the other pedals (when off, almost a white colour), and also seemed comparitivly dim when on. Also the second battery seemed to run out quite quickly, or at least the LED light was getting quite dim by the time practice finished

so...is this normal, or is there something up with my phaser?

Thanks!

the LED is pail anyway because its a dual color one and don't worry its supposed to be white when turned off.

and as for running out of batterys thats normal too, most digital boss pedals eat them.

try using a power supply to see if this improves matters.

are there any other issues? such as low volume or distortion?

and welcome to the forum from the UK.

Hi nick2150

Welcome to the forum from Australia.

The PH-3 draws 45mA, which is a reasonably large amount of current
from a 9V battery.

If you don't have a power adapter to use,
you will get better results, if you buy the more expensive Alkaline type batteries.

As an example, The Boss MZ-2 draws about 70mA.
Which is about double the current of the PH-3.
A 9V battery will ONLY last about 15 to 20 minutes top.
in that pedal.

When choosing a power adapter, if it's a non-Boss,
make sure it is:
9VDC REGULATED.
2.1mm CENTER NEGATIVE tip.
And can supply at least 300mA or more of current.

It's really important that it's regulated 9V.
as unregulated types can read as much as 14V on the 9V setting.

Regards Dr. Bob

Most modern time and modulation pedals are best used with a power supply.
They just gobble up power.
