Hi guys,
I'm not a regular poster here, but hope you can help me out on this.
Last week i got myself a used brown GE-7B bass pedal. But there's something strange about it. The box says 'made in japan', but... the pedal itself has a black label 'made in taiwan'. Surely one of its previous owners has messed around with it, because the botton plate was upside down! Could it be that the bottom plate was switched? Or could it possible that MIT pedals were sold in MIJ boxes?
btw: the guy who sold me the pedal didn't know anything about guitars/effects |

As the plate was upside down I suspect it has been replaced. In a transition period I guess there could have been Taiwan pedals shipped in Japan boxes but I find it unlikely.
What's the serial number of the pedal and what's the colour of the bottom plate label? |

It's a black label. The serial on the label is: ZD91550
and one more thing: the box contains a Boss Pocket Dictionary vol.6, which says 'printed in Japan' june 1989 on the last page. |

The serial number indicates that the pedal was produced June -92 (Serial number decoder here: http://www.bossarea.com/serial/snform.asp)
The serial number was however found on the bottom plate so that's probably the production data of the pedal that originally had the bottom plate. There's a new pocket dictionary almost every year so Your pedal was probably produced 89 or 90 and it could very well have been made in Japan. The box certainly indicates it was. |

Thanks for your help bossarea! Too bad the pedal appears not to be 100% original. I guess someone must have switched bottom plates to turn another pedal into MIJ and make it more valuable. What a fraud...
Now I come to think of it, which pedals would make the biggest jump in value if they're MIJ instead of MIT. CS-3 perhaps, or CE-3. Oh well, probably something to think about in a new topic. |

Just curious, is there a S/N sticker inside the battery compartment?
Does the circuit board have any Japan or Taiwan markings on it?
Grace and peace,
Steve

There's no white sticker or other s/n in the barttery compartment. I took of the bottom plate and noticed that the connector for the adaptor is probably mij. It says 'hosiden japan'
