| I recently purchased a Boss BR1600cd. Anyone have one of these and know about it? I've not had time to learn to use it yet because my classes and career come first. But perhaps some time in the not too distant future I will sit down and read the operation manual and learn how to use it. If anyone has experience with this item, please let me know short cuts and other knowledge areas of it. I did read the owners manual and it seems to be quite a sophisticated piece of electronics, even enought to warrant a class to be taught on how to operate it. |

I've used a BR1180CD.
Takes a bit of getting used to. Once you do get into all the deep editing you realise that the machine is very good for the money. In fact I ended up recording a whole album with it.
The only thing I found a problem (or rather nuisance) was the size of the display being a bit too small for track editing.
Nowadays I prefer using the PC for all my recordings. |

Thanks for that great information. How about hooking up this unit to a computer monitor, is it capable of doing that? If so, maybe hooking it up to your computer would allow for a larger screen. As you can see, I may be way off on this, since I really haven't gotten into using it and finding out the unit's capabilities and all yet. I do notice that the unit came with a cd with a bunch of pre-arranged drum tracks on it. Did you use that at all? If so, how helpful was using those?
On the same day that I purchased this unit, I also purchased the Roland Fantom G8. They claim that the two units can be connected together with a lap top computer connected to the keyboard as well for creating and editing work. That G8 is a monster keyboard. I purchased it before I had actually seen how big it is. I was looking at the G6 and have always wanted a full 88 key synthesizer. Didn't know how big it was until I set it up in my spare room. It's a monster!

Hi FenderStrat86
Nice Fantom G8 I really love hardware, compared to using softsynths. Plus hardware will always still work after you do an OS update.
