When I bought it a couple of months ago I was not very impressed, too much gain for my taste. Yeterday I gave it another try alongside with BD-2, SD-1, OD-1, HM-2, HM-3, DS-1 and some more. I used a rather bright tele and to my suprice the tele sounded really fat and good with PW-2, fatter than with the other units. I had the gain at 9 o clock, not very high, and this seems to be the secret of this pedal. At lower gain-settings it sounds very good (in my taste). The tone setting was about 1 o clock. And one more thing, at low volumes (of the amp) this pedal sounded much better than the others. I´m not saying that PW-2 "eats" BD-2 or OD-1, thats not the case, BUT it has some areas where it rules. |

| I bought a PW-2 because it was dirt cheap, it's a BOSS and more importantly it's... DISCONTINUED. I never heard the thing before I got it. Well, now that I have I think I'll use it as a booster. I keep Drive at 9, the meat tones around 12 and level whereever. I still need to let it crank my amps really loud, but I'm fairly sure there are no surprises as to whether PW-2 is an Overdrive or a Distortion box... I like the color BOSS gave it - has it's own thread here somewhere - Orangeishyellow kinda middle of the road sorta thing, as if not really decided themselves... |
