there's several scenarios that dictate supply/demand/price on ebay when it comes to pedals. i find most pedals can be categorized.

Excellent analysis zentropa - mirrors the experiences I've had with ebay and I agree with every word. Thanks.

Zentropa,

True as mentioned before by the doc, very good analysis, and yes most of us having experiece with ebay and other second-hand outlets will recognise the scenario.

I agree about your 7 days time-span, I probably ment a bit longer than that. Overal I probably generalise too much in many of my posts and write too quick as a result that there are ideas which come across as being a bit blunt and would need to be clearified more.

Just another note on the SD-2, if you have different amps it may be worth seeing how this pedal sounds through different amps.

It does sound good, I have tried it over many set-ups. Lately been using it mainly over the Marshalls but feel it may sound better through other amps. [speaker-issue again!!]

I like your generalist questions visserman - it's often those that lead to the gems like we've seen from zentropa - a quality contribution to the forum that I found really useful as a compulsive ebay addict.

Please keep 'em coming!

Thanks man!!

Sometimes I just ramble, searching for things to ask or just trow up some fire to inspire a wider discussion. Now and again it works other times it just falls to pieces. Heh just like life eh?!

i'm not a huge fan of the SD-2 through marshalls. i find they shine harder through amps with less natural valve compression. i find the SD-2's lead channel is where it really excels, but running it into a marshall tends to rip its teeth out.

SD-2's are a great simulator for a high gain tube amp on its gain channel. that being said, it will do this through a clean tube amp, solid state amp, etc. stacking the high gain tube simulator pedal into a high gain tube amp just doesn't really seem to do it for me... as i'd rather either run the tube amp with high gain or stack a booster into it to push it harder.

basically the natural valve compression tends to squish the simulated valve compression. i find the natural valve compression is best suited for a fairly organic distortion as it tends to clean up the dirt in the right areas but adds some crunch aspect. older DS-1's or distortion+, or sonic distortions tend to fill that role.

i prefer mode II on the OD-2 through a marshall as it's a bit more transparent but with similar fuzz levels as the SD-2.

Hi Mesjoggah,
Great score!
The SD-2 is one of my all time favourite od's, that's why I own three of them. Just afraid if one breaks I can't find another....

I bought a XT-2 on ebay several years ago on ebay pretty cheap and gave it to a friend because I got a new amp... wish I knew it wasn't an easy pedal to find, or I'd have held on to it.

They should do limited production runs of past pedals.
