Well i finally have a DF-2 again. My wife won it on ebay for 48.00 usd.
The feedbacker effect doesn't work right
but i have a place here in oklahoma that does pedal repairs so i should be up in running in a few weeks!!!The pedal after you try to activateeffect won't work but after several tries you get a police siren type sound. The distortion works fine though. :)

Hi Neaves

First of all congratulations of your DF-2.

If you are prepared to open her up & take some pictures.
From various angles.
We will all pitch in, & see if we can help you fix her.
Might be just a crappy solder joint or a wire came off the (PCB) board.

Might save you a few $$$...?

Regards Dr. Bob

Yep... don't pay someone! We can help! The DF-2 is a basically simple pedal.

What, exactly, are the symptoms?

Hey Laurie and Dr. Bob!! :)
Well guys i did find time about 10 minutes ago ha ha to take a look at the board and components and wires and everything seems cool. No dark spots like a component blew and all the wires are shielded and connected.
I then hooked it up and tried it again. It ended up working a little better. I got more sounds this time then when i first tried it. I found that when i turned the pedal off for a minute or two then kicked it on that it was more apt to work.
The sounds i heard after taking it apart were the sounds it supposed to make. The pedal just doesn't seem to be able to constanly produce the effect time after time.

I just had a thought. The overtone pot which if i'm not mistaken is directly linked to the feedbacker effect. I noticed that when i turned the overtone pot after first hooking it up it crackled like it's dirty. Could the problem be a bad pot? Just a guess.

Crackling will cause problems. If you buy some potentiometer lube (or "contact cleaner") anc squirt it into the back of the pot, that should help. You can get this stuff from the local elctronics wholesaler - should cost about $10 for a spray can.

Ok i sprayed the pot and am happy to report that the pedal is functional again. The pedal is missing the overtone knob cover which is why the pot has gotten dirty. I did think that when i owned the pedal before that it would make the feedbacker effect without having to play. am i wrong? I have tested it while playing and it works every time. I wish there was a more sure fire way to control feedback sound you get other than the overtone knob.

I figured i would mention that the pedal is a black label mij with the serial 533100. I tried to use the serial database but it's not working. How old is it do you guys think?

DF-2 will only produce the feedback effect if you play first. The circuit inside is a "phase locked loop" - it needs the input signal to lock onto.

Sounds like a good score to me! no idea how old it is - the decoder should be back up soon.

Hi Neaves

Congratulations & Well Done - Fixing the DF-2.
When you say:

Do you mean the Knob is missing? Or the actual cover/housing around the internal mechanic of the pot?
