We've discussed early Boss batch numbers in other threads. A 0000 batch number is not the first. The earliest I've seen is 6400 and the latest 0400, I believe. They "rolled over" from 9900 to 0000. I'd guess that the 0000 is '79-'80 time frame.

Grace and peace,

Steve

Yes, that's right. The first runs of these pedals is the 6400 batch. I'm not sure how often the batch numbers were changed, in regards to the time between batch 6400 to 6500, etc. but 0000 is pretty late in the ink-stamped numbers era.

Apparently the guy at Boss doesn't know as much about their products as those of us on the forums that have been playing, collecting and researching the most nerdy details of each compact pedal they've made. If you see a service manual for any of the earlier Boss pedals, it clearly states the "rollover" on the batch numbers.

I'm guessing the guy that you spoke to just answered as best he could. I would find it unusual if everyone working the phones at Roland/Boss knew every detail about any single product in the long line of stuff they've released throughout the years.

Hope that helps.

My experience with Boss customer service is that they don't know much about the early S/N, versions, etc. They don't need to know that - they are there to support current products mostly, and they probably are not trained in any of the old stuff.

They probably don't know about the different "smell versions" either. (reference to another thread - couldn't resist )

Grace and peace,

Steve
