| Can I get some input from you DS-1 users on how you set your pedal? I mainly got a DS-1 because of Joe Satriani and have been using his setting (Tone 9, Level 5, Distortion 2). It's a good setting but I think I like it better with Distortion at 2:30 to 3. I'm really pleased how well it cleans up when I roll back my guitar volume. My DS-1 is a long-dash, made in 2/81, and it's the best sounding DS-1 I've ever had. I've had a couple MIT ones and also had a Keeley SEM/Ultra mod, but this long-dash is really the best. I just hope it holds up, being that it's 27 years old! Anyway, please post some settings if you got them. Thanks! |

| I have one from 4/81 that I use the exact settings as zentropa except with the dist backed down to about 2:30. |

Mine is 5/81.. I don't usually use it but I tried it out last week.. it really killed.
tone - 10:30 or lower level - as needed, I was in the basement gain - 3:00 or higher
it was running through a single-ended 5w vintage amp, which made it very warm and fat - even if I dialed the tone a little too high, it would hold together nicely (the tone control on the amp is merely a roll-off).
Then I tried it through my boogie, and it didn't really stand up against the onboard gain (including contour) still sounded nice, but not as nice as through the old Garnet amp.. |

| Thanks for the input, everybody! I'm having a lot of fun with the DS-1. I normally use the gain channel of my amp (Peavey Prowler) for distortion, so having the DS-1 as another option is nice. I've been trying to come up with a way to describe the sound of it, and the best I can think of is "fat and nasty - but in a good way"! |
