Finished amp. 100% operational and 98% original (only thing non-original are the casters - originals were fitted by a previous owner, and they were worn out so I replaced them).

Last post (I promise!)
Fabricated a foot-switch for it Really pleased with this too... thanks for putting up with me pissing in my own pocket about this repair! (it took a LOT of hours and I'm just really happy with how it turned out)

Hi Laurie As always, an excellent nice job.
Nice anodized case you chose for the project. And I particularly like the Cable Restraint (nice finishing touch)
Who makes that case & restraint?.
It's a pity you don't have access to a lettering mill pantograph, to etch in some nice legend/writing for the foot switches.
Regards Dr. Bob 5900

The box is a Hammond off-the-shelf. The restraint is a Heyco.
No need for lettering... the switches are in the same order as the controls on amp (Dist/rev/cho left to right).

....Really nice job on the footswitch Laurie..... ..
P.S...i'm not really suprised everything you do is high quality....it just looks great with the amp...a lot of acoustic players used to use the JC120 for a onstage monitor john martyn certainly did when i saw him in dublin many moons ago,i thought i read somewhere the speakers were full range ones...might be something to try out.... |

Thank you very much! It's just my version of OCD though ...
PS: you are no slouch yourself with your wet-dry-wet rig. |

Nice footswitch Laurie! I have an original FS-3 for the Roland jazz Chorus MIJ in a pretty damaged box (footswitch is as new, in plastic wrapper)
PM if your interested in it, I guess it would be cool with the mint amp, real retro mojo |

Nice work! They always sound better when you've brought them back from the dead, don't they? |

Hi Guys
It might have been over 8 million kilometers of crappy international phone lines. But I actually got the hear Laurie's refurbed JC-120.
It's as sweet as any JC-120 I played during the heyday of my gigging years. From what I can see & tell, it appears that this one was used for a bit & then went into long term storage. So it's probably nearly mint electronically.
Excellent restoration mate. - We are all very envious of you, - & happy for you at the same time...
Regards Dr. Bob |

A superb and I should think very rewarding project Laurie - good to see the amp back to it's former glory.
And that starting price of $70 is unbelievable!
In all my time in music I've never had my hands on one of these - I've heard the chorus is superb (as you would expect with it's CE-1 spec) but how do they take to pedals in general? Pretty good I'd imagine? |

| I'm really surprised that the output transistors have molex style connectors on them. |

Yeah I know... unbelievable. But they have been there for 30 years without issue. No sign of arcing or trauma. So I tensioned them, use contact cleaner on them, and left them. |

Not too bad. THe whole amp lacks bottom end (I'm used to a Marshall head and 4x12), but with a good distortion pedal in front and a delay it cuts nicely with a "crisp' tone. |
