The CE-2 requires an ASA adaptor. What happens if I use a PSA adaptor? Can I power the CE-2 off a PSA adaptor if the adaptor is plugged into a TU-2 tuner with a daisy chain running from the tuner to the CE-2 and other pedals?
Thanks |

| With only PSA and CE-2 you get a poor sounding chorus, add TU-2 (or another PSA-pedal) with a daisy chain and you get a CE-2 sounding just the way its supposed to. |

I'm not technical but it's something to do with a diode inside, which works with a daisy chain but doesn't work with a PSA directly.
There's always batteries! |

The daisy chain connects 2 or more pedals in paralel with the input power supply (in the TU-2,PSM-5,LS-2). Does not affect sound of a pedal in any way. An ACA pedal must have a circuit change for working 100% with a PSA Adaptor. |

Forgive my ignorance, BossFan, but I don't quite understand your post. Are you saying I shouldn't use a PSA with the CE-2? And what do you mean by circuit change?
My CE-2 is easily 20 years old now and shows a lot of wear and tear, but I want to make sure I don't fry it or something. This was my first pedal from when I was 15, so it's got sentimental value (I actually sold it to a guy last summer in a fit of stupidity but managed to re-acquire it recenty - for free!)
Thanks everybody for all the tips and suggestions. Very helpful indeed! |

i think what boss fan means tele_man...is that if you were to try to use the ce2 directly off a psa adapter it would not work so good as the old aca adapters were 12-14 volts(there is some debate about the exact voltage boss used)if i understand correctly the aca pedals like your ce2 have a small thing(diode/resistor i'm not up on the finer electrical points... ) inside that reduces the voltage down to 9 volts but for some reason if you use a aca type pedal in a set up with other psa pedals off a psa adapter it will work fine...again i'm not the best person to explain this but i think it's something to do with the common earth..i.e the connector leads between the pedals when the aca and psa pedals are linked together in a chain the voltage reducer inside the aca pedal is bypassed and it works the same as the other psa ones.... i'm sure there is at least a couple of threads lurking around the forum on this subject which explain it better...Dr Bob,stahlhart or stinkfoot if he's around could explain the tech stuff a lot better..i hope i haven't confused the issue even more...!!!... .....
sorry went a bit off track..if you try to use the ce2 directly off a psa adapter i don't think you will do any damage but you get the effect of the pedal is running with a nearly dead battery, the led is dim and the sound won't be great..... |

My thanks to all for the feedback. Had I done a quick search of the forums I would have discovered that my questions has been asked and answered many times. Lesson learned . . . I'll do a little research before my next post.
I believe I know all I need to know about ASA vs. PSA adaptors. I feel quite safe now running my CE-2 off a daisy chain from my TU-2.
Cheers! |

Hi Bossarea & Guys
Perhaps we could make this info available as a Sticky, or maybe a FAQ (Frequently ANSWERED Questions)
I know Bossarea is very busy, & don't want to put an extra burden on him. It just seems, that we seem to cover the same ground many times, as new members sign on, & it might make it easier for them. Not that I mind answering all the questions; It's just that some newbe's might be a bit timed, when it comes to asking.
Even just a link to the appropriate page in this forum or perhaps, "With Permission" from Stinkfoot, a link back to his page?
What do you guys think?
Regards Dr. Bob

It is definitely one of the repeating questions so we should do something. A sticky thread might not be a bad idea.
We discussed earlier about setting up an FAQ section where we collected all threas such as this. I completely forgot about that before I got a chance to create it. |

I'd have no problem with my ramblings being used as part of an FAQ, as long as there's also a link back to my site of course. However, as I'm aware that parts of my site are a bit word-heavy (fun for those who want to dig deeper, but maybe not for one who is looking for a shorter answer) I could also write a short summary on the subject, to be posted in said FAQ.
Bossarea - if you want me to contribute something new (and shorter), just let me know and I'll get cracking.

Thanks Andreas. I've created a new Tech FAQ section so if you create a new post there it would be excellent.
