Ive noticed that when both my DC-2 and DM-3 are in the effectchain together I get a faint, but certainly noticable hiss from DM-3 when its connected to the daisy chain. (I run my effects on EBS AD-9 power supply)

The hiss is there even if I turn the pedal off. If I run DM-3 on battery the hiss is gone. If I remove DC-2 from the effectchain and use my DC-3 instead of it, I can run DM-3 in the daisychain without the hiss.

Has anyone else noticed this, or what causes it?
Perhaps certain pedals dont match in the effectchain...?

Sunburst it is that old and famous adaptor story again, I do not know about the DC-2 and the DC-3, but my guess is that both work on Boss PSA powersupply [look at the homepage] also both pedal do consume a lot of power, so the adaptor you are using may not be up to the powerconsumption of those pedals.

There is the Stinkfoot link about powersupplies and what or what not to do, just look around for the link, as I am not sure what it is.

Perhaps get a dedicated Boss powersupply and you may find the fault is no longer there.

Had so many of those issues a long time ago, talked to various people about this, and used all kind of powersupplies, and ever since I have been using the right powersupplies all my hums and noises have gone, even at times when I run about 8 to 9 pedals.
Cheers.

visserman, I dug out my old Boss PSA adaptor, which I havent used in a long time to try that out. Seems like it worked. I guess the Boss PSA adaptor takes the prize for being quietest, the hiss is no longer there.

Now, why didnt I think of digging out that old PSA adaptor earlier...

Perhaps the other one you were using before has longer chords and is therefor a little bit more flexable?, as the Bossone goes straight into the mains, and then only has one small lead which connects to your pedal. I find myself using a lot of extensionleads just to reach my pedals and not to put to much strain on the lead coming out of the adaptor.

No, the chords are about the same lenght for both adaptors. I have heard very good things about the Boss adaptor being very quiet, and it seems the rumors are correct.

However, I have fallen in love with my new DM-3 which for now resides firmly in my pedalchain. When the hiss problem is now solved I really enjoy having both DC-2 and DM-3 together in the chain. The warm sounds they produce together are heavenly.

I had a similar problem with a CS3. It had a faint, but still annoying, buzzing sound in the background. I did a mod to convert it from ACA to PSA power and the problem was solved.
