Hey guys, I just got this lovely old CE-2 chorus, but it works rather strange. When i use a battery nothing's wrong. But... when using an adaptor thing change. The led light doesn't work anymore and soundtends to become muddy. (The apdaptor is ok, i guess. It's a Boss psa for 200mA)
Has anyone experienced the same, or knows how this can happen?
Thanks in advance! |

That doesn't sound right. Does your CE-2 have the ACA or PSA adapter sticker? If it is made for the ACA adapter, it is possible that it becomes under powered with the PSA adapter.
Have a look at stinkfoot's post in this thread. http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=122 He explains it much better than me |

You're right! There's indeed a sticker with aca on it. Never thought about that it might need a different adapter. Oh well, i'll just have try stinkfoot's advice then. A lot better then having to fix the pedal
Thank you for your reply! |

Your pedal is probably fine, and you may find that you would need an older ACA adaptor, have seen these on Ebay, and just let them go knowing that a new ACA does cost about the same price with the difference that their output is 9 volts, and the older ones give out up to 12 volts.
I do have 1 older one, and I have tried all my older pedals with a recent ACA and the older one, did not notice any differences, but some pedals are more senstive to this so the CE-2 may act just like that.
Great isn't it this ACA/PSA idea?, just another Bossidea to get more money from their users, if only I could them |

| If you use the daisy chain power from the TU2, LS2, etc. you won't have those problems. If you're not using this power method, then a simple modification will let your ACA pedal run on PSA power without the problem(s). |
