Ok,

All of those suggestions are considered. I own both a Rat & OD-1 and I actually held out using the OD-1 for such a depletive moment. My jamming buddies immed. called me on the Classic Rock tones. Which is all good.

I can't see the forrest from the trees. Searching for the feeling that just isn't around.

I am really digging the OD-3, with some PQ-4 thrown in for slight adjustments depending on what you are looking for at the moment. The OD-1 is also up there for me as well.

The OD-3 can hardly be beaten. I traded my BD-2 for the OD-3.. then re-purchased the BD-2 for slightly more edge.

Is the PQ-4 before or after the dirt?

it would best to put it after the dirt. parametric equalizers work better after distortion as they have variable q's (frequency points).

+1 for the OD1. I leave the OD level at 12'oclock and adjust the level to suit. Very simple almost plug and play.
I can get nice bluesy tones with my bucker equipped guitars.
I cant wait to hear it through the Ash bodied strat Im building at the moment with its single coil Kent Armstrong pups. Im guessing it will sound even better as the coil cut buckers make it sound even better.
