Hey,
I mistakenly bought a BOSS OS-2 from a friend for cheap. I originally thought it was a DS-2, but had the names confused in my head.
I like the fact that the OS-2 has overdrive AND distortion. Are these circuits similar or the same ones in the OD-1 and DS-2 pedals? What are the differences?
Thanks,
Dre |

| I may be wrong but I thought it was based on the SD-1 and DS-1. |

OD-1s and SD-1s aren't to dissimilar from what i remember.
isn't it a simple conversion. |

| To my ears the OS-2 seems to be OD-1 on the overdrive side and a DS-1 sound on the distortion side. I've actually owned an OS-2 for over 10 years now. I don't use it on my everyday board(I use a Keeley-modded BD-2 there) but I keep it on my backup board. IMO it lacks a little bottom end but it's a good "jack of all trades" distortion unit. And sometimes it's cool to be able to blend OD and DS for a totally different tone. |

Yea, I thoughtI was buying a DS-2 but in my head I forgot that the OS-2 was separate. It is a cool pedal. I like the fact that you get overdrive and distortion.
I mainly will use this as a backup in case any of my preamp tubes ever go during a show. I have had a mesa rectifier where the high gain sounds are gone, but the cleans are still there, so I could use this to continue on if need be. Or, if I ever need a big boost in the gain, I could use it!

The distortion side is closer to a Proco Rat in design The overdrive side is the basic OD1/SD1 asymmetrical three-diode setup, but the frequency corners are lower. OD1 338Hz>720Hz SD1 88Hz>720Hz OS2 33Hz>338Hz |

| Saw a small article where Keeley can mod an 0S2 to sound like an Ibanez SD9 and a Rat in one box. |

Hi sirgus
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
I'm sure I speak for all of us here when I say. We're are all very sorry to hear about the devastation to your country.
I have some friends at work & one family friend that come from Chile.
Is that a picture of you, a friend or a media picture, that you have posted?
