My PH-3 is never on my pedalboard for more than a quick blast. Then it goes back in the box again till the next time i really want to like it.I bought mine rememberng the sound of the PH-2 but to my ears the new one is thinner sounding and a bit gimmicky.Cant speak for the PH-1/R but the 2 has a better core sound than the 3 imo

thanks everybody for your help.. i think i might chase up that ph1r on ebay that stahlhart gave me the link to, if the only issue with the ph3 is a volume drop it might not be an issue for me because i use my tr2 dd3's and my old rocktek phaser in a loop with a ls2 i use the volume on the ls2 to combat the drop when i turn on the tr2 as well as keeping my signal strong to the amps....or is the ph3 to 'digital' sounding...?

Now that I think about this volume drop, it probably has to do with the PH-3 eq circuit sucking a lot out of the 1k Range.

This could possibly simply require some different amp eq'ing to compensate for the volume drop. I dunno. Can't try it myself, but maybe a PH-3 affectionado can post how they've got around the volume drop.

for the record, i think the pH-3 has some great features, the RISE and FALL are great, and with lots of delay, and slow sweep, I'll bet that Step Mode has its place in elektronika somewhere too. Overall I think its just missing a bit of mojo and I personally couldn't live with the volume drop on the 4 stage mode.

has anyone any input on the rt 20..?if i'm not mistaken leslie speakers wre the orginal chorus/phaser sound there is a review of it in this months guitarist magazine and it won a award (guitarist choice) i reckon i could just about squeeze it onto my pedalboard ....hehe!! plus you get a cool leslie organ sound/univibe...etc .i run my rig in stereo so i think i would get the most out of it.. sorry if i can't seem to make up my mind but i have to much stuff lying around gathering dust ie...line6 xt pro..digitech processers, that i bought over the years.....

The volume drop that I get with the PH-3 is mostly on mode 1 (the four step mode) with the depth and resonance set lower. Mode 2 seems to be a little bit louder, but is too bright for me, so I've been sticking it on mode three (also louder) for now with very low depth/resonance. A phaser is just adding waves together to get phase cancellations, so it makes sense to me that there would be a volume drop when you click it on . . . I would figure that it's just part of using the effect. Like the way a tremolo pedal seems to cut your volume because of it turning the volume down half the time.

And the step thing sounds awesome for some radiohead type stuff . . .

well... i finally went and did it.. i bought a ph2 off ebay for 65 euro looks like the rocktek ph1 can go into honourable retirement.....i was also chasing a mij bf2 but it went up to 70 i thought it was a bit expensive thats 101 in euro and didn't include shipping most of these people are looking for 10+ just to ship from the u.k. to ireland......!!! i priced the mxr flanger reissue in germany its 162 euro+15 for shipping but the rest of the band want some stuff as well so its a big order....so 15 for the whole lot is ok.. i sent the guy i bought the ph2 off a copy of the royal mail shipping costs.. it was only about 3.00 for normal postage and 7.09 by airmail..!!!i learned a expensive lesson get a price on shipping before you buy....

Hi!

I'm able to buy a PH-1r at a nice price from someone who used it with a bass guitar. Could it be damaged by playing with a bass?

Greets,
Maarten

Don't worry. A bass guitar should not be able to damage any pedal.

Ah ok, thx!
I was just wondering because you cn damage a guitar amp or cabinet with a bass due to frequencies.
Only thing is, the led of the PH1r is broken, is it easy to fix?

The problem with cabinets are that the speakers are made for a certain frequency range and the voltages are relatively high. We don't have any of those problems on the input of an effect pedal so it shouldn't be a problem.

If the problem is the LED itself then it's easy to fix. If the problem is caused by one of the other components that helps the LED light up, then some troubleshooting may be required.
