| Hey, I've got a Boss DD-6 delay pedal, and I accidentally plugged in the wrong ac adapter a while ago, and now when I plug it into a correct adapter or use batteries it doesn't work. The light just stays on perpetually and seems to oscillate between red and a kind of yellow. I'm sure it was the wrong adapter that had something to do with it, but is it fixable? |

Hi iwantdickclark Welcome to the forum
If the incorrect power adapter was the wrong polarity. You probably shorted out or blew, the protection diode, inside your DD-6. It's a very common type of fault - mistake.
was the incorrect power adapter, also of a higher voltage. Was it AC instead of DC? what voltage was it? Can you please go check, & give us more information?
But most likely it's the protection diode. If you cant solder, you may have to take it to a Tech, & get him to de-solder & remove the damaged protection diode.
I don't have a schematic (circuit) for the DD-6, So I can't give you an exact circuit & circuit board part reference for the diode.
Another common fault, is that the 78L05 mini 5V regulator also gets damaged or blown up.
Hope this helps.

| I have the same problem. I was careless. It was from a higher power source being plugged in. It was for a Blackstar Dual HT. The box began to smoke and now it dosent work and the yellowish light stays on when plugged in and it dosent work. I opened it up and couldnt see any visable burned parts. Is there an easy fix? Do you have the schematic now? I see that the original post was quite a while ago. |

Hi cobainer5182 and welcome!
The DD-6 schematic is very elusive. I have never seen one.
If you saw smoke, something is definitely fried. It might take a magnifying glass, but something on the board will be slightly blackened. That's the place to start. Unfortunately, it probably won't be an "easy fix". |

Hi cobainer5182
First of all welcome to the forum from Australia.
I did receive your Private Mail (PM) asking for help & support. You you are aware, we have many members from many different countries. and we are not affiliated with Roland-Boss, because of the many different time zones across the world. It's customary to post your support questions on the forum first, there are many members here who can help, & many more that will benefit from reading the replies.
It also helps cut down on the massive amount email the Tech Guys get in their in-boxes.
As far as I'm aware, none of the guys here have the official DD-6 schematic - service notes.
But don't be disappointed, things change weekly, & sooner of later & one will pop up somewhere.
Can I suggest you post some pictures of the internals of your non working DD-6. Both sides of the board.
There are a few pics of a DD-6 posted by member Tom Cray, in the Pedal Internals thread: http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4147&whichpage=9
But we would need clear, close-up pics of the areas near, and around the DC input socket.
It's probably a blown protection diode/zener or regulator. Possible also a Trace on the PCB has been burned off-fused, or a combination of the above.
Hopefully one of the other tech guys will jump in, with their advice & comments.
Regards Dr. Bob |
