Im thinking about getting a BD-2 and would like to know about some of its qualities, like how versitile it is.
Also could someone (or two) post a quick review of the BD-2.
I really have some Boss GAS at the moment. |

| Great Pedal, very transparent. Really versitle. Responds well to pick attack. Can't go wrong with it. |

| More grit (& noise) than the OD-3. Both are outstanding pedals. |

This is the main thing - With the gain set fairly low (say, 9/10 o'clock), you can play almost totally clean with very gentle strums, or dig in really hard for a nice biting overdrive: No need to even mess with the volume control. I'm not so keen on it at higher gain settings, but I use an OD-3 for that.
A very loose analogy would be the BD-2 is "Fender-ish" (bright, can be a sound a little harsh/overbright, beautiful pick-response) while the OD-3 is more "Marshall-y" (full, fat, compressed sound with loads of harmonics). I love them both. |

I was looking into the OD-3 as well, infact thats on my "To get" list, and on that analisys i think im gonna get bothe tht OD-3 and BD-2 and team them up with my new TR-2 for my "5 Boss Essencials" pedal project. All i need to do now is find a good CS-2 and a OC-2 or just put my CH-1 or DD-6 in there to make up the 5. |

If that is the case, get the OD-3, that guy is the best OD Boss makes! |

| BD-2 is a great pedal, can serve as a clean boost, mild od, or an all out distortion pedal w/ fuzzlike tendencies at the highest settings. Very dynamic and touch sensitive. I have a modded Indyguitarist version which I really love and can hold its own against many boutique pedals. |

the only rig i really dug on with a BD-2 was when i was playing a strat through a '68 twin reverb.
i used it as a "nudge" to give a little break sound at about half the volume. read as: it gave the amp volume at 7 type sound at a level where i could still hear the drummer i was standing right next to. this was with settings similar to what leeroy said.
with the gain high i always found it to be pretty harsh and i tend to prefer a bit smoother gain structure. it definitely gets fuzzy near max gain. i felt there was a lot of "tin" in the sound with the gain high as well and always preferred the OD-1/SD-1/SD-2/OD-3.
