I've got a DD-3 blue-Label, so it is first version, same PCB as DD-2. Plugged in, the LED lights up, I got sound from the Direct-Out, from the Output I only get the delayed signal, but not the original guitar-sound. The delayed signal is a little bit slighter than a normal working DD-3. All poti's work (there's a noticable effect). I tested several capacitors between Input and Output, but the seemed to be ok. My guess is, that one of the 8-pin(in a row)dual opamps in the pre-emphasis OR de-emphasis might be worse, it's called M5218AL, but this is only a guess. Any one here, who had this problem before or is familiar with the DD-2/3 schematic and can tell be, if my idea is good or complete nonsense ?
Thanks for your interest and help,
Till A

Hi Dr. Bob, no, the pedal just stopped working proper.
Thanks for the schematics, but I've already got it.
Any other guess ?
Thanks again for the answers,

Take a look at Q5,Q7,R26,R30,R34,D1 and D2. These components form a switching circuit that turns off the dry signal when a plug is inserted into the direct out jack. If one of these components fails the dry signal would be shut off. You can test this by shorting the drain and source of Q5 and if you hear the dry signal then it has to be one of these components. If you have a signal from the direct jack and a delayed out signal all the IC's should be OK. |

quote: don't forget, that the DD2/3 take a few moments to turn on, when first activated. (slight turn on delay). Catches a lot of people off-guard, & they think it's faulty.
what are you trying to say is that, the dd2/3 takes a few seconds before it turns on? every time we we turn on a dd2/3, it always took some few seconds to turn this ON?
is there a modification to cure that?
if the HOLD feature doesn't work for the dd2/3, what seems to be the problem? |

I'm with ironman28 on this one (path through Q5)...
It looks like the direct signal taps off of the output from pre-emphasis, so it would seem to me that you wouldn't have the delayed audio either if the 5218 were bad.
