I'm looking for a good compact delay, just delayfor soloing or welcome to the jungle intro things. This delaywould be best choice, or a carbon copy from mxr can do it better and cheaper? |

well the DM-2 isn't a reverb but a delay.
it does a good job at mimicing a reverb though.
never tried a carbon copy - I had an AD-99 at one time and it's almost the same as the DM-2 (it's harder to get it to oscilate though) |

I had a Carbon Copy for a little while. It's not a bad pedal, but I like my DM-3 a lot more. The CC has a longer delay time, but my DM-3 still sounded better, so I sold the CC.
I've never played a DM-2 so I can't make an opinion on it, but the DM-3 is usually cheaper. Some will argue that the DM-2 is better. Either way, I wouldn't pay over $150 for either. I see a lot people asking over $200 for the DM's. That's a little too much for me. I've seen them for much less... especially the DM-3's.
FYI, you can do a pseudo-reverb with delay, but it's not as nice as a spring tank. |

| The DM-2 is a wonderful delay pedal and can provide you with sounds that are impossible to replicate (although many modelling delay pedals do claim to base their analog model on the DM-2!). However, if you actually want reverb, get a specific reverb pedal, there is no substitute. To be honest though, an amp with good built in reverb almost always beats a reverb pedal in my book, and considering the cost of a good reverb pedal... |

A DD-7 in analog mode will give you a good approximation of a DM-2. It's not perfect but for most uses, it will be close enough. A new DD-7 will be cheaper than an old DM-2 and you'll get lots of other useful modes too.
You won't get the vibe of the vintage DM-2 though. The search and the pain before you actually get one might make it worth getting a real DM-2 |

I've heard good things about the Carbon Copy and it is really affordable if you can't afford a Boss DM-2. Although if do find one inexpensively them by all means jump on it before someone else does.

| The Carbon Copy is great, but the DM-2 is something special, and you own a classic for the ages.... |

Has anyone compared the behringer vd400 (http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/VD400.aspx) with the dm2? I own a vd400 I like it a lot, it cost me 23! I also have a dd7, to my hears the dd7 analog mode is great as it sounds the same as the vd400 but without the noise floor (don't know what the noise floor is like on dm2). But I've found that the dd7 is hard to oscillate. |

there is no noise floor at all on the DM-2
however if the repeats are turned up too much you'll hear these "Delayfhnchen" (delay flags?) as we call them in germany.
cheers, mully |

Is there any reason why you want a DM2 over a modern delay (say a DD7 or DD20)?
When it comes to Boss delays, the DD20 wins everytime for me. Sooooo much more versatile than any other delay pedals that Boss do/did. |

Some People prefer analog over digital.
