I have an SD-1 that I performed the Monte Allum 808 mod to. The thing sounds pretty good overall, but it really seems to rob me of a lot of my bass response when engaged. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks,
Doug |

You should double check your work, you may have missed something. Mainly C2 and R4 which is where the bass is rolled off on a SD1. 1uf and a 10k? |

| i think that is the natural characteristic of the pedal mod. it always sounded thin to me and i had a few hope for the pedal. but it think it is the nature of the pedal very thin sounding to me lacking of bass |

One of the main features of the Monte 808 mod is to bring back a lot of low end to the pedal. If yours doesn't do so, then there's something wrong with the mod. Cause mine is just fine. |

| Would you recommend modding a MIJ SD-1, or just a newer MIT one? |

Hi starr36
Dr. Bob's & Laurie's rule number 43.

So, I was looking through the info from the mod, and it seems that the cap change to C3 is to add bass, and it is a change from a .047 to a .1 cap. If I were to put a 1uf cap in there, is that the right cap to increase bass even further?
Thanks,
Doug |

Yep. But be careful... it adds capacitive load to the pickups.
In reality, 0.1F should be OK. I wonder if there is something else wrong/broken/strange? |

I've read somewhere that removing C6 can mak ethe SD-1 sound better, is this true? And how hard is it for an electronics n00b to remove from the PCB? |

| On a tangent, does anyone have both MIT SD-1 and an SD-2? and if so, how do they compare for bass response? |

| C6 is a low pass filter. Increasing value will let more lows through. |

I have been looking at some options to rectify this. I am considering using the AMZ Fat mod, activated with a switch, as detailed here: http://www.muzique.com/lab/fatt.htm
Has anyone done this? And if so, which is the eqivalent capacitor on the SD-1? And how did you connect the 4.7k resistor to the 4.5v?
Thanks,
Doug |

Removing it completely, would it be too much bass? |
