Hi, I've just bought a new RV-5 via the net. Using the spring reverb setting, when I play certain notes (quite a few) I'm getting a strange plopping sound.
The best description I can give is it sounds something like dropping a stone or coin down a deep well, that reverby plop as it hits the water.
I have the guitar going straight in to the RV-5 and the RV-5 going straight in to the amp.
Even if I turn the effect level down or the guitar volume down, it happens.
I've tried with several guitars all with the same result.
So, my question is, should it be making this noise? (I hope not)
Thanks, Mark

Hi MarkE, welcome to Bossarea!
I can't say I've heard what you are describing with my RV-5 (when I had it). But even though Spring & Plate are my favorite settings, I didn't care for the 'verbs in the RV-5 enough to keep the pedal.
Can you provide a wav of the sound for us? It may help troubleshoot. I'm sure other members will chime in. |

What you hear is the sound of a springreverb. Amps with build-in springreverb are nowhere near that boing sound. The RV5 exaggerates it. If you do not like it, just use another setting. |

That's what a real spring reverb sounds like when it's really goosed. The "plop" is extraneous spring noise that is amplified when you have the reverb level turned way up.
From what I understand, the reverb on the Deluxe Reverb pedal does the same thing, sometimes when you're not even playing something. While it does add some authenticity to the spring reverb sound, it's probably a little bit overdone. |

| Use it in the FX-loop and it will be less "plopping". It plopped too much before my amp. |
