has any body used one of these and/or does anyone have a sample recording of their band that was mixed down on one? Is it easy to use? or would you rather spring for a Mac and professional recording box etc.
Well you already read my Mac thread and probably know my preference. If you want a stand alone recorder though, I would go with a Roland VS2000 instead. That will give you 24-bit recording, you can install some nice 3rd party plugins on an expansion card, and you can hook it up to a monitor for PC style editing. The VS2000 base unit is not a lot more than the BR-1600. It gets a little pricey though when you start adding expansion cards and plugins.
