Hi, I just noticed that my CS-2 requires the ACA adapter. I use the pedal in my board powered by a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 unit, so it's receiving a regulated 9vdc. I have noticed the LED is rather dim compared to some other Boss pedal on the board. Here is my question:
I understand the function of the diode/resistor is to drop the incoming voltage from approx. 12v to 9v, what happens if the incoming voltage is already 9v? Will it drop it to a level (6v) that isn't enough for the chipset to function properly with? Apart from the dim LED, the pedal works, I was wondering if I'd have more headroom/better sound if the pedal was receiving the proper input voltage.
Thanks! |

hi Dr Jimmy welcome to the forum. there are numerous threads about aca psa on the forum, but you seem to have a handle on that. Just in case here's a thread from FAQ if you haven't seen it before;

Electronic devices work best at the recomended voltage. That being said, it shouldn't make a difference if your CS-2 is daisy chained to a PSA pedal. |

Thanks! Yeah, I searched the forum ad nauseum for posts regarding this, but didn't really find an answer about the possibility of a low voltage situation. Since I don't daisy chain my power supplies, it gets its own from the Voodoo Lab unit, I was curious about the voltage drop.
Thanks again for the reply. |
