Hi I'm just curious to know why the Type-1 serial numbers always finished with 2 zero's? And also if anyone could tell me the when did they change from the metal screw to the plastic one? And from the type 1 serial to the type 2 one?
thanx

I don't know why they end with 00. Maybe a 2 digit serial number (month number) didn't look impressive enough. When the 6 digit number was introduced the continued with the 00 ending up until June 87. Serial numbers starting with 79 are the first ones using all 6 digits.

The change from silver to black screw (they're both metal but the black one has a plastic coating) happened at the same time that the serial number changed from 4 to 6 digits in May 81. You will find some pedals with a 4 digit number and black screw as well as some with a 6 digit number and silver screw but those are just the exceptions that confirms the rule.
