Sorry it didn't work out the first time.. But now they have to fix it right!
I think you could probably swap out the pots yourself without too much trouble... I switched all the internals on a strat-type guitar with just a few basic wrenches and a solder joint or two. And I'm no electronic engineer like a lot of these guys around here.
I've seen an article on shielding for Fenders somewhere on the web, and the fellow just puts down a nice layer of heavy aluminum foil in the body cavity with a ground wire to the right spot. I will try and find that article for reference.
