Hello:
I have an OD-1 Japan and love it, but its a little loud with some white noise. Can the pots or the guts be cleaned to delete that white noise or should I just be happy with a singing OLD pedal?

I should mention that I am using a 62 reissue telecaster from Japan
with the OD-1

Welcome to the forum!!

Couldn't hurt to give your pots a cleaning if you have some contact cleaner on hand, or the jacks with a swab.

Is your guitar shielded enough?

Delete the white noise
Welcome to Bossarea!

I'd pull the knobs off & shoot some contact cleaner the best you can, even pulling off the back & shooting the pots themselves. I'm not quite sure about goin' wild all over the PCBs though.

Borrow an other guitar with humbucker pickups and you can hear what is the difference between the generated noise.
Afterwards will become clear what is the rootcause of the noise!

if there is white noise, its most likely a dirty pot/switch etc.

the OD-1 is a little on the louder side as far as hum goes but thats the price you pay for all those good ol MIJ pedals.

Read reviews about the 14pin vs the 8pin, and the people who have both, like to use the 14pin in live gigs, and the 8pin for bedroom levels.

My Od-1 is quieter much like my DS-1. I get a volume drop when I stomp it on, compared to my other dirt pedals.
