Hi Guys & Maybe Gals,

I was thinking about building a Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ULTRA-RARE-VINTAGE-Dallas-Rangemaster-treble-booster_W0QQitemZ7423114198QQihZ016QQcategoryZ118994QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) except that's an original purely provided for those who don't know anything about the unit. Although as I just read it, this unit has Mullard OC 81d's instead of 44's like I thought they had. Although after a little more extensive reading it is fairly unanimously agreed upon that the ones with the OC44's sounded best.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone else has one or has built one, and what your opinions are and how often you think I might end up using one.

- Thanks!

Looks like someone's ARM just reset...

Small Bear Electronics has those germanium transistors, if I remember correctly.

I've been interested in Boosters as well since I just got my first tube amp, since apparently boosters only work well with tube amps. I like the sound Tony Iommi gets on a lot of his solos, and I heard its from a Booster. Fireball Ministry seem to use them a lot too. As far as how much you'd use one, depends on what you are trying to do and your style of playing....The Booster I am interested in a lot is made by Vintage Tone Project, but I know Build Your Own Clone offers a kit for about $90 with all the parts, just solder it yourself. Also, Keeleys Java Boost has the 44s in them...

Analog.Man makes the Beano Boost, with a Germanium NKT-275 in there. It's supposed to be an awesome sounding rangemaster clone.

Well just a note:

I ended up buying a pre-built BYOC Tri-Boost off of some guy on another forum for $70 shipped. Which is nice considering the unbuilt kit is usually like $90.

Anyway I will post a review on this sometime soon for anyone who is interested.
