that's really weird!
I guess if you took the bottom plate off a MIJ pedal, you could re-assemble it on a MIT pedal for extra added $$$ resale value. our only defense against that kind of thing are other cues (e.g, where is the SN located?). but just like there are some fraud artists who will 'fabricate' a pre-CBS Strat to pass off as an original, I'm not surprised people are doing this with Boss pedals now.... |

The shocking part is that they go through this trouble to earn maybe an extra $20. A fake pre CBS strat will make them big bucks while there's almost no gain from producing a fake pedal. |

In defense of Sabiba_Rock, I bought this CE-2 from him off ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7359822544&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1
and it is indeed a Black MIJ plastic screw that matches another Black MIJ plastic screw that I have exactly. (I also have 2 silver screws and 2 MIT's for comparison purposes) Everything is intact, and nothing has been re-soldered. As a matter of fact, when I opened it up (I always open 'em before I play 'em :-) ), there were a bunch of small insect carcasses inside the bottom of the pedal. Feel free to say, "Eewwww!" I assumed those to be UK bugs, but it looks like they were Wisconsin bugs!! He bought this pedal off ebay shortly before he sold it to me.

I didn't do the thorough research on this that visserman did before I bought it. I saw the $84US Buy It Now and jumped on it. After international shipping charges I ended up paying $106US - Oops, no longer a bargain on ebay. Oh well, it's a great example of a CE-2.
So, my point is, I don't think he even opened it up. Played it and sold it for some reason.
Just my .02 on the deal....
I did like his little "Rock On" guy emoticon, though!

LOL

Steve

Hey everyone! I notice you've been talking about me!
I just have to say that I'm an extremely honest 25 year old guitar slinger!! Maybe too honest sometimes, but hey, at least I can look in the mirror at myself every morning without recoiling in horror!
Anyway, Phostenix bought a pedal off me, and he informed me of this forum and that you guys were talking about me saying that I might be "changing the insides". Please. Why the f*ck would I do that when any pedal "anorak" could open one up and see it blatantly!? It'd come back to me tenfold! Do you think I'm that stupid, OR dishonest!?
I'm not George Bush!
In this period of my life, in my band (Sabiba), I've been searching for the "perfect sound", and obviously to do that, I need pedals. I sell the ones that don't suit me because I don't have the money! I buy, and sell! I don't have a guitar shop around my way to try different things out, and I can't afford to go traipsing around London because if you haven't already guessed, PETROL COSTS A BOMB HERE!!
An apology wouldn't go amiss seeing as none of you had the guts to email me personally and ask questions!
Well, its no skin off my nose, you're the ones who've been missing out on some mighty fine pedals just because you don't trust me even though I have lots of good feedback! Then again... I don't blame you as there are some deceitful assholes out there as only last week I paid 120 for a PolyChorus pedal, and the moment I paid, the bloke removed himself from ebay and took my money!
And they say that one good turn deserves another? Ha! Yea right! It shows what a f**khole this world has become.
Thanks a lot guys, but don't worry, I only have a couple pedals left, and they're NOT BOSS!
All my LOVE,
Tan.
PS: If you've decided to take back your comments, then the least you can do is check out my band on www.sabiba.net and maybe leave a few NICE comments instead! |

| sorry about that, Tan! I was 'speaking' rhetorically (e.g., the mythical "MIJ" Boss MT-2 that others have reported seeing), and did not mean to automatically lump you with the frauds of the world. please accept my apologies! |

Hi Tan, sorry about any unfair comments and welcome to the forum.
There's a lot of scam artists around and sometimes it's easy to jump to conclusions. |

Tan was apparently so upset he left out the best part of his story. He sold them with a Buy It Now less than his buying price because he didn't want people seeing that he had recently bought the pedals and was trying to turn a profit on them. Ah, the irony....
So, instead of looking like a good guy, he looked like a scammer.
We all live and learn on ebay.
Grace and peace,
Steve

BTW,
Before anyone gets mad at me for letting the cat out of the bag, I just thought that since I had personally dealt with him, I ought to let him answer for himself....

The OD-3 is a Taiwan only pedal. The production moved to Taiwan in the late 80s while they started the OD-3 1997. With Boss there's a lot of overdrives to choose from. My favorite at the moment is the OD-2 but this changes on a weekly basis. |

Tan,
At the risk of offending the purists, have you ever tried the SD-2? I always liked the fact that you could have both rhythym and lead settings in one pedal. I've not spent a lot of time comparing different overdrive/distortions - I'm consumed with chorus pedals right now , but I like the SD-2 that I've got.
Grace and peace,
Steve

There's that crazy banana on a llama again....
I picked up a Boss RPW-7 power supply a few years ago cheap and it's been a great PS - 5 outputs, 700mA total. |

| I'll second maniacally_cool's suggestion, but add that you should seek out an older MIJ SD-1. the recent ones sound a little too harsh and tinny to my ears. |
