Hi, Has anyone ever powered their Boss pedals with 18v? I know its not really relevant but it will save me lots if i can power my CE-2 with 18v. Many thanks! |

No, overvoltage will fry components & you'll be left with cool paperweights for your desk! You can use a voltage divider to reduce the voltage from 18V to 9V. It is a very simple circuit that can be built inside a cable.

G'day! Short answer is - please don't do it! Some pedals will be killed outright, some will work for a while then die, some will just have the reverse protection Zener (11V) burn out, then the pedal will die.
The voltage divider calculations above are critically dependent on the load "resistance" - in this case you would need to use the pedal current draw to do the calculations (measured, not published), and be aware that it changes (eg when the LED is on vs off). I'd be very careful if using that approach... heck, please just don't use 18V
Another option... is to build a small regulated supply which will regulate the 18V down to 9V gracefully, like this: http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4014
