Hello there! Im new to the forum, so im not sure where exactly do this question. Im from Argentina, so my english isnt very good, please excuse any mistake. I bought a very very cheap CE-5 in a pawn shop. It is cosmetically destroyed, but it works perfect and I only payed 20 dollars for it, so I cant complain. Im trying to find out when it was made. The label is removed, so I dont have the serial. But I took a glimpse to the PCB, so Im hoping someone here in the forum could tell me the pedals year of fabrication. The number in the PCB is:

CE-5 PCB 22937234RT

I think my pedal is at least 10 years old because I also own a newer version which says "CE-5A" instead of just "CE-5" on the PCB.

Well, any kind of help will be appreciated. Other question I would like to ask is why the filter knob seems to have a much softer effect in this pedal that in the newer version. Could mine be broken?

thanks!

AleNu

Hi AleNu! Welcome!

There is one basic thing to check - if it is a surface mount "digital" board, it is after 2001.

Laurie: it doesnt seems to be a digital board at all...

Hi AleNu

Sounds like you have an older Analog BBD CE-5
(BBD Bucket Brigade Delay-ine)
If you can, please post some pics of the board & the numbers/codes on the IC's

If it looks like the CE-5 board on this page:
http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4147&whichpage=6

Then it is definitely analogue - date will be somewhere between 1991 and 2001.

Here are some pics, Mr Bob.
Laurie, yes, it seems to be exactly the same.

So, I think the pedal has been made before 2001, very nice!

Now, the question is if theres a way to find out the exact year without having the serial.

And... the filter knob seems to be broken. Anyone knows how to fix it? The problem is that here in Argentina we havent any official technical support, so Ill have to fix it myself or find someone who can do it. So let me know if anybody can help.

thanks a lot, youre all very nice here!
