Hello,
I currently own Boss:
MD-2 - Distortion BF-3 - Flanger TR-2 - Tremolo PW-10 - V wah
I want to get the tu-2 tuner, but its my final pedal I'm unsure of. I oringinally thought of getting a dd-3 but I wondered if theres any other pedals which might be nice, such as the rv-3 or ps-2.
I generally play a lot of indie music, but heaviest end would be muse. I play a lot of muse
Cheers

Is that a list of all you have or just the Boss stuff? I couldn't play without a delay these days...
DD-2 and DD-3 are both very decent delays up to 800ms, the DD-2 and the apparently the early DD-3s are a lot less clinical sounding than than a lot of modern digitals. Both can be had cheap if you sniff about too.
You mention the PS-2 though and for value for money that thing's head and shoulders above anything I've bought for a while. The octave up is usable, nice and metallic and fake sounding in a good way, the octave down less so. You can get a really nice chorusy effect out of it too by manually setting the pitch shift to be a few cents off your dry signal which I really like. And it does delay up to two seconds as well as all this. An interesting sounding delay which loses low end as it repeats and disappears into a lovely lo-fi mush with the feedback set high enough. I like it a lot, and they're pretty cheap. |

A PS-2 might be a good choice - It can do longer delays than the DD-3 (2000ms vs 800ms), but also has pitch-shifting capabilities.
EDIT: Oops - beat me to it (and i forgot to mention the "chorus" setting). |

I have what I can afford I occasionally gig, but mainly home use. I'm quite young, If i had more money, I would have a lot more pedals, and a Gibson SG with Maestro.

Like a PS-2, but more powerful:
- It can have two pitch-shifted "voices", unlike the PS-2 that has only one - It has an expression pedal jack that allows it to work a little like a whammy pedal. - It has some truly crazed pitch-shifted delay effects in certain modes< e.g. a setting where the pitch of the delayed note spirals upwards or downwards... madness. |

Avoid the PS-5, way too 'metallic and fake' The RV3's reverb was too tinny, I was happier with my spring tank 'verb from my crappy amp
Can't go wrong with a Delay, any will do with your set up, depending on the length of delay you want with the new DD7 out, some people maybe selling off their old ones for a new one |

If you can find a PS-3, you get a delay AND a chorus AND a pitchshifter. |

How much are they? I assume they're discontinued. I've seen the PS-2 on ebay, but not the PS-3. |

PS-2's are in the $95-130 range.
RV-3's are a bit lacking imo as both reverb and delay pedals.
for a specialized delay pedal, the DD-3 imo is the best of the stuff that's easily available. given a choice i would go analog all the way, but these are pretty expensive.
however, if you were contemplating a newer $150 delay pedal, i'd suggest exploring a DM-3 which you should be able to get for that price.

You'll be lucky to get one in the UK for that price - More like $200-300 over here. |

interesting.
DM-2's are in the $200-250 range here, but the DM-3's have definitely lagged behind. |

Actually, I've just had a check on completed listings they both seem to have dropped a bit recently: A couple of DM-2s didn't sell for $300 on buy-it-now, but I always wonder if a steep BIN price puts people off.
Only relatively recently, a decent condition DM-2 would guarantee $300+ and mint DM-3 not far behind.
Maybe the analog delay hype machine is starting to slow... |

Ps-2 sold on ebay for 41 inc P&P.
I could afford one, but are they worth getting? DM-2's and PS-3's are great, but out of my price range. |
