Hi all - new problem:

I have a DOD FX-56 with a very dim LED.

I measure 7.3V on it when engaged and the LED is very DIM - almost impossible to see..

Is this current to much or is the LED just gone bad??

Any input greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If you mean that you are measuring the voltage across the LED when the LED is "on" and it is 7.3V, the LED is toast. Should be down around the 2-3 volt range.

Hi Vim Fuego

The guys are right; With that high a reading.
Sounds like the LED has gone very High resistance.
or most likely went open circuit.

Replace it with a cheap 5mm test LED & re-measure the voltage across it.

Hi Vim Fuego

Excellent!
Great that you were able to fix it...
What does is sound like?

In case you needed a schematic? You can find it here:

--- edit ---
Vim - while you are still in fix it mode.
Check the 10K current limiting resistor in series with the LED.
It may have possibly changed value over the years?
10K = ( brown, black, orange - [gold for 5%] )

Regards Dr. Bob
