Hi all,
I was wondering about behringer pedals. Whats every think of them besides them being plastic. I like the remakes of boss such as the "ULTRA VIBRATO", "SLOW NOTION", "ULTRA FEEDBACKER" etc... but I have never tried them. But for 40 dollars some should be using them, somewhere.

I have 5 of the little buggers...
UC100 - sounds almost identical to my CH-1 PB100 - an OK booster DR100 - an OK workhorse reverb, but I find I keep the "mix" on about 1 DD100 - an OK workhorse delay TU100 - an OK workhorse tuner
I prefer my new-to-me RV-3 to the DR100/DD100 combination.
Don't mention the crappy plastic cases... |

| I've got the EQ700 and compared to the GE-7 it's more a noise generator than a eq. For that price they use the chaepest parts they can get and this results in noise and incoinsitent quality. Here in Germay Behringer once had a real good reputation. But since the production moved completely to China they drove this reputation into the ground. |

they used to be known for high end studio gear here as well... but that was 10+ years ago.
fuzzy: the ones that i've heard have ranged from adequate to underwhelming to decent. if i had to recommend specific ones, it would be the models that are copies of pedals that sell at a premium and that there aren't cheap alternatives available. the vibrato samples i have heard sound decent to me (but they also sound like they were played on a low wattage solid state amp and i don't know what they'd be like live).
items like the vibrato, slow gear, analog delay, tremolo pan, etc. would probably be worth picking up.
the items that are clones of pedals that are still cheap on the used market i would probably recommend avoiding.

The little Blues Overdrive (BO100, I think) is a cracking pedal. I've bought a couple of others and they were poor, but the Blues OD is very good.
Thing is, though... you could get a Danelectro Fab Distortion for a couple of quid more, and that's even better. You doesn't pay your money, you takes your choice, I suppose. |

| I've got the DD-100 and I'm kind of torn over it. On the one hand, it's a pretty versatile unit, but it is highly limited in quality, any sort of knob twiddling ends up sounding very lo-fi, which might be what you want, but if you want some nice pitch shifting with your delayed notes look elsewhere. I guess I'm kind of spoilt with the quality of my alternative, a very early boss dm-2, which is just about the most musically rich delay money can buy. |

Yeah I've owned a few (Accoustic Moddler, Ultra Distortion and Chorus). They weren't bad for the price but they didn't sound quiet as good as the Boss counterparts.
The plastic cases felt like they were going to snap everytime I stepped on it too! |

| Does anyone own, or has anyone tried the Behringer pedal tuner (or TU-2 clone)? I was just wondering how that is because $30 for it compared to $99 is tempting. I am mainly just wondering how it tunes and if it colors your sound... |

Yes it's a TU100 - good workhorse. Does not have the power distribution though.
Mine is on a true-bypass loop, so it doesn't colour my sound at all |

Hi Christo But does it sound anything like an SP-1? The New samples on their site are pretty poor tone wise, right across all the pedals that I listened to yesterday.
They use CoolAudio brand DSP delay processors, in their digital delays & reverbs etc. perhaps this is why the delay pedals sound usable, but so-so,
I currently have an FX100 multi pedal here for repair, it belongs to my very good friend Justin, that I sometimes talk about. I wouldn't normally attempt to repair a $30 to $40 pedal. But to us, it's more of an academic exercise.
Hey Laurie I believe that you have one of these, I might need you to make some measurements on? Well at least until we throw it at the wall.

Sorry Dr. Bob! Don't have one of those in my stable of thoroughbred, power packed, indestructable behringer pedals |

What sound samples are you talking about? It's kinda fun, 'pecially if you follow it with a distortion type and EH2. Like a cocked wah i guess. |

Hi Christo
I was over on the Behringer site a few days ago, & they now have sound samples for some of their pedals, attached to the page for the relative pedal, They also seemed to have a random one on the homepage, that changes when you hit refresh. The SP-1 was there as well, as some of the older pedals. But the quality of the samples wasn't really great. I have some serious Near-field monitors here, & the samples sounded like that had no bottom end at all, just upper-mids, very thin an tinny.
I get much better samples out of the UD100 running into my little Pignose, that I use as my test bent amp.
