My telecaster has a grounding issue. I have read up on this and I have the symptoms - buzzing goes away when 3 way switch is touched or I mute the strings.

What I am posting about is regarding how to solve this. My dad has brought a roll of aluminium tape (To cover the inside of the pickgaurd) and I'm confused by the advice of 'check the Pickup selector'. What should the switch look like?

Cheers

did you try with different guitar amp cable? it sounds like a broken cable ( negative pole) ....

It is not a guitar forum, but we can help you if you give some information, like...

Is this noise related with some changes made to your guitar????

Did you make any modifications on your guitar???

Also you can check inside your guitar plug conector, maybe negative pole is loose....

Maybe your amp doesnt have a ground connection....
