Hi folks Going towards metal on this one! I've been looking for a nice, but affordable metal dist. The HM-2 seemed cool too me, but I think it will be quite similar to my distorted Marshall. So the XT-2 came across my mind. Bossarea himself stated that it is a love or hate type-o-pedal. So, I want to hear somethin' about the XT-2 lovers/ haters around here. Any comment will be appreciated.

PS: anybody an idea of the street price of the XT-2? |

Yeah... I don't use it much (too many other distortions), but when I do I'm happy with it.
I reckon about US$70 should pick up a good one if you wait.

love the clean sound
the distortion sound is more of a fuzz type of sound. Not sure if I'd use that one for metal.... |

not your best bet for "metal"...you can get some very harsh tones from it and i love this thing to death but, not for metal...
in either case pick one up... |

| regarding love/hate ... you can't go wrong buying and trying this one out; its def a different distortion but you need to adjust listen, adjust listen, adjust listen much more than you would with a DS-1. |

heres my 2 cents on the XT-2
bottom line, it is a "secret weapon" kind of pedal.. i cant imagine anyone really using it as a main distortion as it is extremely nasally. i like to compare it to a thin fizzy MT-2 ran through a filter or cocked wah. if youre looking for metal distortion, i recommend a MT-2 or a Rat even.
it came out in 96 when alternative and experimental were in their heyday. it gets crapped on a lot, but honestly folks, Boss has SO MANY distortions/ODs, im glad that they actually made a different sounding pedal for a change.
i found a setting that nailed Knopflers "Money For Nothing" tone with that pedal though. i think as long as you regard the XT-2 as a fun pedal, you will enjoy it but just know its more of a tweakable toy than a fully usable distortion |
