Hello,
Yes for a few years Boss used the old Roland delay chips(the long ones) in thier DSD-2 DSD-3 DD-2 and early DD-3 pedals.

they sound stunning to say the least. i have a DSD-2 and an early DD-3 that has the long Roland chip in them. although the delay time isnt as long they sound pristine.

who has the older Boss delays with the infamous long Roland chip in them? what do you think?

DD-2s fetch a lot more money on eBay than DD-3s; you may be lucky to find an early issue DD3, say dating to 1986ish and save $50 over a DD-2.

They do murder the newer digital delays.. the 12-bit goodness doesn't hurt either. I have a DD-2, early DD-3, and a DSD-2. All amazing!
