I am getting more and more interested in how pedals work, and seeing topics discussing pedals workings currently may as well be written in a different language, from a different planet, in code and backwards.

So, is there any good books, website, or any other medium that anyone can suggest that may be a good starting point for learning about electronics, and how they work?

I did physics at school, so I understand a bit about the basics of electricity (V=IxR etc..) , but once we're talking transistors, clipping, capacitors etc.. I am completely lost.

Suggestions please!!

There is lots of good material in the WWW. Stuff like:
http://amasci.com/elehob/elehobed.html
http://sound.westhost.com/beginners.htm

Before I actually went to University and did engineering, I got all my basic electronics knowledge from one obscure old book given to me by my brother (yeah, a book... showing my age, eh?)

Cheers Lauire. I remember you mentioning that book before, but the cheapest one was 48.95 plus shipping. Just snapped up the one at a much easier to swallow 19.95 plus shipping. May take a few weeks to get here as it's coming all the way from New York.
Will have a read of the links aswell...
Thanks man!

I should do something like this as well...i've got by for years by dabbling,my background is more mechanical than electricial but on site some of the systems would have control valves and the boiler/plant room wiring or with the ventilation side of things the would be fans,AHU's etc...so a few times i had to figure so stuff out in a hurry if there were no sparkys around.. lately with the infinate paitence and kindness of Dr Bob/Laurie etc and some of the guys over on the Musicman amps forum,i've started getting a better understanding of stuff especially how tube amps work...valve./tube amps are not something you want to be poking around the inside of with a screwdriver if you don't know what your doing....there seems to be only one official repairman in Dublin for valve gear and i wasn't particularly happy with the service or the invoice i got off him the last time...
