I think amp simulations in stombox format really makes sense. We already have the Line 6 pods and other amp simulators but they all have at least 10 built in amps and the user interface is impossble until you've spent a whole day with the manual. One pedal, one simulation makes things real easy and and if I want the Bassman sound I don't need to have an integrated Mesa Boogie simulator.
Also great that they've struck a deal with Fender so we can actually see the name of the amp they're simulating. No more of that Tweed or spank nonsense in the naming conventions. If these two are a hit we'll probably see more simulations later on. |

Hi Bossarea & Guys The only down side to this, is 5 amp simulation = 5 Pedals = 5 x $cost.
Great for Roland & Boss, but a bit hard on OUR hip pockets.
By the way Bossarea, how much for that Kidney?

| Yes, good point. My kidney probably won't cover all those pedals. Better start giving blood too. A pint per week until the pedals ship should help me pay for them. |

| rolandus.com still displays the banner saying new products being launched 1-18-2007 at 6pm. I guess that's pacific time as Namm is being held in California. It's about 3am right now (12:00 GMT) so the products hasn't officially been launched yet. |

It was hard to see the Fender pedals on bosscorp.co.jp as the image flashed by so quickly. I managed to capture it before it disappeared.

Boss finally listened to all my requests for a new fuzz. The DN-2 also looks interesting. I'm really falling behind on all the recent pedals. Still need to get one of the RC pedals, an RP-20, and DD-20. |

| I also wonder if this means we could see some discontinuations soon. There are a lot of overdrives now. I would not be suprised to see one go. |

I think they all sell pretty well though? I'm not sure about the MD-2, but the rest of the distortions/overdrives sell well. |

I just saw the Deluxe Reverb amp simulator has a Vibrato on it Do you reckon these should be run in the effects loop of your amp? |

as a fan of distortion pedals in general, I completed my collection of one of each Boss overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedal made late last year... but now there's three new ones! thank you for the scoop, Goran!
my enthusiasm is tempered somewhat by the FZ-5. to me, COSM modeling for a fuzz pedal is far beyond overkill, a little like installing a jet engine on a 1960s-era 'muscle car' (Camaro, Charger, some Impalas, etc.). however, I'll keep an open mind and let my ears instead of my eyes decide how good the fuzztone sounds.
finally, if these Boss/Fender pedals really will be released -- Fender's website makes no mention of them at the moment -- that's even better as far as I'm concerned. I like Fender guitars/amps/etc. even more than I like Boss pedals.... |
