When it comes to Boss delays, the DD20 wins everytime for me. Sooooo much more versatile than any other delay pedals that Boss do/did.
Some People prefer analog over digital.
The DD20 and DD7 (and a lot of other modern delay boxes) do analog very well. Even my modern synth does analog sounds very well.
Bottom line.... Nearly all of your audience (be they live, or at home with the CD) won't have a clue or couldn't care less how you get your sounds, as long as it sounds good. |

I see what you're saying Paul, but if we look at it with that mindset, why are we not all playing Squier Strat-alikes into cheap Chinese solid state amps with no effects at all? I mean, if the crowd don't notice then why go to the trouble?
...Because our sound is important to us. Sure I can use a more modern delay unit than my DM-2. In fact I used my DD-3 a few weeks ago on a gig. Frankly it didn't compare to my DM-2. Before you say it, the DD-3 is a Keeley mod, so it's supposed to sound "analog". Just like the DD-7's analog function...it's close but it's just not the real thing...at least to my ears and my hands. And if I'm not satisfied with what I'm doing it will show in my playing(and I don't need any help sucking in that department!)
That, my good friend, is why we go to the trouble... |

Cheers Dr B
MullyFX, I'd be interested to hear what you mean by "Delayfhnchen" (delay flags?)? i.e. samples! |

To mimic, extrapolate & one up on Svengali's theory... 99% of the audience can't tell the difference between analogue & digital, let alone whether your Les Paul is a Standard, A Classic, a Studio or a Special. Is it an Epiphone or a $100 Korean knockoff. Point being... "They don't care". Should you? I would hope so. They want tight music & a decent show. You want to be happy with your sound. BTW - I would like to hear Mully's explanation of, or examples of "Delayfhnchen". Sorry Mully, German is a language of strange to me, yet fascinates the hell out of me. Also please explain the whole Volkswagen "far-from-poopin" thing. I can't poop either!!! I'm in dire need of a full colon cleansing. Hamster seems to be binding me up.
