What do you think of these 2 distortion and overdrive respectively? I have been messing with the idea of getting one... any opinions?

What kind of sound are you going for? What is your current set up?

Well I'm looking into different options for a distortion pedal really (like the Digitech Hot Head). I have the CS-3-->SD1-->OD3-->CH1-->DD3 (old)-->TU2.
As you can see I have two overdrives, the SD1 is almost always ON (with the drive turned very low and the level at 3 o'clock), unless it's a clean clean sound, on that case I'd turn the CS3 on.
The OD3 is turned on for leads or for a heavier crunch sound. I have both controls set at 12:00.
But I was looking into a heavier sound, for alternative music (think Radiohead) or heavy music (think Metallica/Sabath).
I had considered the DS-1, but I have heard good (and bad things) about the Digitech Hot Head.
What do you think of that one?

I'd go for the Rat, I've never tried one but I believe they offer a range of distortions, plus it's been in production for about 30 years so there must be something good about it. I think the Hot head is supposed to be a copy of the Boss DS-1.

Ill get a Bad Monkey on my workbench the next days. A customer wants to get it modified for bass. Ill check this pedal BEFORE I modify it and will let you know what I think. But since its another overdirve in the long line of Tubescreamer soundalikes I think you dont need the Monkey

I got an used BOSS DS1 2 weeks ago, so I'll put the Hot Head purchase on hold for some time. Anyway, it'll be very interesting knowing what you find out about the Digitech distortion.
Check out the DS1 thread in the Boss Gear Board, I would like to hear your opinions!
