I think that, for our purposes here, you'd be speaking of a chain of effects with an output signal level essentially equal to the input -- you don't have any amplitude boost or "tone sucking" to your signal by the chain, and your amp sees about what it would from the guitar itself (not counting the impedance difference between a pickup and the output of the last pedal in the chain).
