strato.....i looked at these when i was in the marketplace for a tube overdrive...eric johnson was using the classic for a while i think and said it sounded very good...but i heard there was some problems with the switches on them breaking..they look pretty cool and have a lot of features like the mid boost switch..as you know i went for the seymour duncan twin tube in the end because it uses the tubes to actually drive the sound and i'm very happy with it..i also looked at the new tube drivers with the bias control but to get one there was a waiting list and it still would of come in at over 500 euro including shipping... ...... |

hey franz, thanks for the reply. ya i heard the same with the switches. i was actually leaning towards a "tri-Mode" distortion. it kinda looks like a SD-2 mixed with a LS-2. although i think the price tags are pretty high |

Hi Strato
What Distortion tone/s are you thinking-trying to recreate?
Or is it a bit of GAS , & the need for a Valve Distortion Pedal.

Is the 65 part of the wedding gifts?
At least he trusts you with both his Daughter & his 65 twin .

i actually try to get it every time i see him + every gift holiday. he says i can have it when he dies. he uses it as a beer coaster. i said i will give him my Kustom amp which is the same size and in better shape but he wont budge. he says it reminds him of his glory days.

heh heh...no way is he parting with that amp....my father in law used to listen to a lot of classicial, opera and good ol' rock n roll on a big old akai stereo...you all know the ones ..with the seperates, the old V.U meters and the tuner that lights up with the weighted wheel for tuning in the stations..i'm nearly sure the power amp has valves in it it's so old but it's in pristine condition..anyway a few years ago he was going to throw it out with all the old vinyl so i said i would take them as i wanted a record player and i was listening to all that stuff in his house for years some of it is excellent.... (it also has those big old speakers with a bass, treble and horn in them)my brother in law nearly went nuclear and started screaming about family heirlooms and stuff....i can just imagine one of my daughters coming home with some fella in a few years time asking me for my vintage selmer stadium that i keep around the house...to quote charlton(ben hur)heston..."out of my cold dead hands" ...... |

Hi Strato
Just to clear up any possible confusion. You're talking about the amp aren't you?
