yes the lehle switchers are supposed to be the best...let me know how he tiny terror sounds as i have a couple of spare 1x12 celestions i could use in a cab for the head...the idea of using my selmer combo with something like the orange or a blues jr on small gigs is starting to grow on me...... |

Bloody hell. Save up for an Orange. The Tiny Terror is phenomenal. Enough clean, enough grit, enough volume. Tone & consonant feedback out the yang. The 1x12 cab is voluminous & extremely well built. I don't care for the plastic jack-plate or grill logo but it sounds great. I'm trying to figure out if a Radial Engineering Headbone VT or Cabbone can let me share the Roadster 2x12 cab between the Orange head & Roadster combo. I think I've got it figured out. I just don't want to push signal back to the Mesa OT.
I did get the Lehle switch so I could send to the Mesa or the Orange & it works very well. Quality, silent, & the power input can use anything between 8-20V AC or DC so whatever you have laying around the house will probably do since it doesn't ship with a wart. I think I might just get another one to split my many Boss/Moog pedals & Mackie mixer OUT of the chain & run the 2 new tube amps strictly bone-dry for maximum tone.
NOW I see what everyone is talking about. All those buffered inputs just piling up sucking the life out of beautiful tone. Maybe a multi-FX unit would be easier on the sound but for now I think I'll keep it simple. I'll still run a bit of CE-5, TR-2, & DD-5 through the Mesa.
I can't wait for that Blackheart to finally stock the shelves again. I hear their coming out with a lesser wattage version (than the current 5W/3W) early next year. I'd hope they make a 10/5 though maybe with an FX loop. In any case, the Blackheart should be a dandy at 250 clams.
Anyway, just a report on things. Save your dough & get one of these bad boys. It seriously rawks!

there's an austrailian band called 'wolfmother' and the guitar player uses a lot of vintage pedals and he has them all looped through a series of little lehle switchers so basically he has a row of 6 or 7 switchers labelled in a row with the names of the different pedals on them,it keeps them out of the signal path and also saves on jumping on vintage gear,he can leave them all switched on all the time,its probably a bit over the top for what you and i want ..i use the LS2 to keep some of my boss pedals out of the signal chain so i don't have a row of 6 buffered pedals pushing into each other,as you have discorved DeFrag it can thin out the tone a bit i still have my CS3,LS2 and CH1 in line but i don't find they cause too much tone suck..if fact i would go as far to say one or two buffered pedals are good to have inline as they help with the guitar signal to the amps with long guitar cable runs......

I broke down & bought the Blackheart 112 combo, a 2nd Lehle switch, & another pile of Monster cables. I knew I would. Those Blackhearts are selling like hotcakes. The $150 heads are still out a couple months.  My new gear should be arriving a couple days after Xmas. I'm going to make a cab switcher from a Hammond box I have laying around so the Blackheart can use its own speaker + the Orange cab & vice-versa. I still need to buy a 4PDT switch though. This way both my Class-As can have 2x12 for a bit more volume while maintaining the sweetness. 
The combo has an open back & the speaker is American voiced as opposed to the closed back cab with a British voiced speaker that goes with the head. I think tubed British & voiced American with a warm, open back should be a nice complement to the all British sounding Orange Tiny Terror. I just wonder what they do to the speaker to get different voicings. Maybe they wrap the coil differently or use different diaphram materials with unique response characteristics.
This makes 4 tube amp purchases in just over a month.  Somebody keep my ass away from that ZVEX Nano!  I was impressed with it & even at a 1/2-watt sounded fantastic through a 4x12.

I just wish I "needed" that Peavey Mini Colossal. It sure piques the interest  Have you tested one out?
I think I found the squirrel over on the Orange site if I'm not mistaken. I read & research EVERYTHING so I could be lost in my 5000+ favorites. Anyway, I thought he was kinda neat. |

| I used the selmer 15 watt amp last night for the whole gig....and i had no problem being heard for 90% of the gig.... for but if you like your like fender clean forget it with these sort of small amps... all in all rockin' little amp but for the straight twang i need for some of my stuff i'm afraid the only amp that gets there for me is my musicman HD 130 combo..this isn't a criticism.....just a matter of the right tool for the job,part of the problem could be the fact that this amp has a valve rectifer and starts getting dirty about halfway up when the amp gets warm..but the plus side of this was i was able to crank it nearly wide open and pedals4pv is right...the CS3 really shines with amps like this........if i ever get a blues gig this is first in the back of the car...one other thing,i tried the same experiment a few years ago and the amp was lost in the mix,miking everything FOH and i think we have lowered the volume a good bit in the last while,i had no problem being heard and this amp is only rated at 15 watts and is 46 years old....in fact at one stage the singer asked me to turn down.......... |
