The sound that i avoid having is like a cocked wah.
Each sliders have different character (GE-7)

Thanks rockman888 for turning me on to another cool japanese band. I love that stuff.
*Right Foot Boss, J rock is really interesting!
Midrange is the key and not get muddy or spikes.
Maybe testing the sound far from the amp is better than closing in. |

for eq, count me as another vote for midrange. start with all of your amp eq knobs at noon (in the middle), but from the sounds of it you might want to lower the bass eq knob a bit. for your GE-7, you might want to try a mid-boost setting (an upside down "V")... FWIW, I think that's the way Kerry King of Slayer has his MXR graphic eq set that way.
Yeah, contrary to popular belief, Kerry King does not use a scoop for his EQ, but an inverted scoop, so to speak, as PawnshopTrash says, cause I saw Kerry King even say he does not use a mid scoop in his EQ, cause it looks like a Smiley Face, and metal isn't about smiling |

| My bet is on the DS-1... if you can get the Keeley mod even better if not just boost the mids and lows with the GE-7 after it... |

rockman:
i don't think you'll need a 7 band EQ to get the sound you want.
i agree with what others have posted that the punk sound has boosted mids (but not straight boost across the board).
if you do use EQ, try something like this:
+10---------------------- ------------------X--X--X --0---X--X-----X--------- ------------X------------ -10----------------------
basically, take out a touch of low mids, boost upper mids and treble. raw playing volume is what really supplies the low end and you shouldn't try to force a boost there unless you were going w/ 10" speakers. |

I can't wait to try this at the studio!
Make way for the new tone of punk rock! Hehehe!
Guys, I also tried rolling off my guitar volume at home with my setup w/o the eq. only the amp 10 watts, and there it is!
Sadly, it was the amp's OD not a pedal coz i left it at my friends house.
***But i got the trick and maybe I could get the "Boston" sound!
I used a Fender SQ-10 MIJ 1967 10 watts and got it for 15 bucks!***
Anyways, getting all this stuff behind, nothing really gets the punk rock tone w/o asking others and experiment.
And with the knowledge in this thread posted, I rockman888 thank all of you who posted and sharing your time and experience here!!!
